Original poster made in 1972 by Jacob Lawrence to promote the Olympic Games that took place in Munich that year.

Jacob Lawrence's bold, graphic paintings give their African American subjects great emotional depth. The artist's socially engaged and story-rich works draw on the legacy of social realism and Mexican muralism. Inspired by the ethos of the Harlem Renaissance, Lawrence depicted icons of black liberation such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, but also the mid-century Harlem community at large. Lawrence became one of the first black artists to be represented by a traditional gallery in central New York.
