This original 1955 Italian advertising poster was created for A.P.I. Voghera, a confectionery manufacturer based in the northern Italian town of Voghera. Promoting the company’s chocolate and nougat, it was printed in offset by Giuntoli in Milan.
The composition features an elegant young woman embracing an abundant selection of chocolate bars, nougat and individually wrapped sweets. Her theatrical pose and delighted expression transform the advertised products into symbols of pleasure and indulgence.
The figure’s flowing pink and green dress blends beautifully with the luminous green background, while the brightly coloured confectionery packaging creates a playful cascade across the image. Bold yellow lettering and expressive handwritten typography complete the distinctly mid-century design.
The poster reflects the glamorous visual language of post-war Italian commercial advertising, in which fashionable figures, saturated colours and idealised expressions were used to give everyday products an irresistible sense of luxury.
A charming and highly decorative example of vintage Italian food advertising, this original poster would make an appealing addition to a kitchen, dining room or collection devoted to chocolate, confectionery and twentieth-century graphic design.
