Beautiful poster of Sandy-Hook, pseudonym of Georges Taboureau of Art Déco style for the account of the Chargeurs Réunis.
Sandy-Hook is specialized in the representations of maritime scenes. Painter of the Navy, he produced many posters for transatlantic companies.

The Compagnie de navigation des chargeurs réunis was founded in 1872 in Le Havre by the Parisian banker Jules Vignal. At that time, it provided regular connections with Brazil thanks to its steamships.

Over the years, the Company developed and, in July 1889, the Africa line was opened from ports on the Atlantic coast and the English Channel (Dunkirk, Le Havre, Bordeaux), followed by the Indochina line in 1901, the Round the World line in 1905, etc.

It should be noted that the Chargeurs Réunis was the first shipping company in the world to organize cruises from 1927 onwards, paving the way for what has become a real industry today.
