Nice political poster of the R.P.F. (Rassemblement du Peuple Français) from 1947.

Charles de Gaulle, born on November 22, 1890 and died on November 9, 1970, was a French soldier, resistance fighter, statesman and writer.

The Rassemblement du peuple français (RPF) is a French political party, created by Charles de Gaulle in 1947 and put to sleep in 1955. Refusing to position itself in the right-left divide although often classified on the right, it is also the only formation in the history of Gaullism launched by General de Gaulle.

Aiming to defend the proposals developed by its founder in his 1946 Bayeux speech, it was, along with the French Communist Party, the main political party of the time. Resolutely hostile to the Fourth Republic, it defended the strengthening of the prerogatives of the executive branch, as well as a sovereignist, anti-communist program that favored a third way between capitalism and collectivism.
