Beautiful poster made in 1958 by Ernest René Bouvard (1910-2008) who was a French graphic designer, illustrator and poster artist. It is always celebrated on board the liners of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique.
During his career, he worked for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, a shipping company founded in 1855 which was charged by the state to ensure, among other things, the transport of mail to North America.
He participated in the advertising campaigns for the voyages of the company's large liners (Liberté, Flandre, Antilles, France...).
Indeed, the liners of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique were often symbolic works of art of their time, intended to represent the image of France abroad. In the same way, the quality of their service, in particular the quality of the meals and wines, won the loyalty of a wealthy clientele, notably rich Americans at the time of Prohibition.
