Original poster made by Paul Colin π«π· (1892-1985), considered one of the greatest French poster artists, to promote the show of Katherine Dunham.
Very art deco in its early days, his style soon became very personal and impossible to classify. The synthetic precision of his portraits and the evocative power of his posters for great causes characterize him as a master of visual communication. His work remains current and relevant. Considered a master of the modern school, he created over 1400 posters and numerous theater sets and costumes.
Katherine Dunham πΊπΈ (1909-2006) was an African-American dancer, choreographer and activist. She completely disrupted the codes of classical ballet to become one of the most important choreographers of her generation.
