The "Quinzaine impériale" was an event organized for propaganda purposes by the Vichy government.
In the eyes of the regime, the Empire was the last vestige of the country's greatness on the international scene. All of the state's constituted bodies were put to work to promote a taste for the Empire among young people and to give them a taste for physical effort through sporting events.
An intense propaganda campaign, including the colonial theme, was then put in place, especially through the controlled press.
