Otto Nielsen (1916-2000) was an accomplished painter who devoted much of his career to studying the peoples and animals of different regions. He illustrated numerous travel books outside his SAS career. Nielsen created posters, calendars and other promotional material for SAS for almost 50 years.
Scandinavian Airlines, more commonly known as SAS, is the national airline of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. SAS is the abbreviation of the company's full name, Scandinavian Airlines System or, legally, Scandinavian Airlines System Denmark-Norway-Sweden. Part of the SAS Group and headquartered in the SAS Frösundavik office building in Solna, Sweden, the airline operates 180 aircraft to 90 destinations (as of December 2019). The airline's main hub is Copenhagen-Kastrup airport, with connections to 109 destinations worldwide. Stockholm Arlanda airport (with 106 destinations) is the second-largest hub, with Oslo's Gardermoen airport being SAS's third-largest hub.
