This elegant original 1985 "Louis Vuitton – Travelling with Style" poster by celebrated French illustrator Razzia (Gérard Courbouleix-Dénériaz) was created to promote the landmark Louis Vuitton exhibition held at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. Combining Art Deco inspiration with contemporary graphic design, it pays tribute to the golden age of luxury travel and one of the world's most iconic fashion houses.

The composition recreates the glamour of the early 1930s, depicting impeccably dressed travellers preparing to board the famous Golden Ray aircraft. Elegant figures clothed in sophisticated coats stand among Louis Vuitton trunks and luggage, while the streamlined airplane evokes the romance and excitement of interwar aviation. The scene perfectly captures the refined lifestyle associated with international travel during the Art Deco era.

Rather than designing an entirely modern composition, Razzia deliberately references period fashion illustrations and travel advertising from 1930, creating a nostalgic dialogue between past and present. His clean lines, carefully balanced colours and theatrical staging celebrate Louis Vuitton's long-standing association with elegance, craftsmanship and adventure.

Founded in 1854, Louis Vuitton revolutionised luxury luggage by introducing flat-topped trunks specifically designed for modern transportation. As railways, ocean liners and aviation transformed international travel, the brand became synonymous with sophisticated mobility, accompanying aristocrats, artists, diplomats and explorers around the world.

The 1985 exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum marked an important recognition of Louis Vuitton's cultural and design heritage. Rather than presenting the company solely as a luxury brand, the exhibition explored the evolution of travel, fashion and craftsmanship, highlighting the house's influence on the history of luggage design and decorative arts.

Razzia emerged during the late twentieth century as one of France's leading poster artists, often regarded as the heir to the great tradition of Cassandre and Bernard Villemot. His work combines Art Deco elegance with modern graphic sensibility, making his exhibition and advertising posters highly collectible in their own right.

Original Louis Vuitton exhibition posters are particularly sought after because they unite several collecting fields: fashion history, luxury branding, travel memorabilia and contemporary graphic design. This example beautifully illustrates how historical inspiration can be transformed into a timeless work of decorative art.

Celebrating the enduring romance of travel and the incomparable elegance of Louis Vuitton, this original Travelling with Style poster by Razzia remains a superb example of late twentieth-century French poster design and an exceptional collector's piece.
