This original 1973 French advertising poster was produced by O.G.E.P. for Walt Disney’s Semaine Anniversaire, or “Anniversary Week”. It formed part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney Productions, founded in 1923.
The humorous illustration features Disney’s Big Bad Wolf balancing a small birthday cake and burning candle upon his nose. His exaggerated expression, long pink muzzle and battered brown hat give the image the lively character and comic appeal associated with classic Disney animation.
A brilliant yellow background is contrasted with black, brown, pink and red, while the announcement appears inside an enormous white speech bubble. The expressive hand-drawn lettering and simplified areas of flat colour create a bold design that could be understood immediately from a distance.
The lower section bears the special 1923–1973 Walt Disney 50th-anniversary emblem, together with the copyright of Walt Disney Productions and the O.G.E.P. Bagnolet imprint. The poster combines commercial promotion with a playful celebration of Disney’s animated heritage.
A colourful and entertaining example of 1970s French Disney advertising, this original poster would make an excellent addition to a collection devoted to Walt Disney, classic animation, the Big Bad Wolf or popular culture.
