Created in 2012 by American illustrator Joseph McDermott, this original advertising poster printed in offset formed part of a campaign for Perrier Fines Bulles. Developed with the advertising agency Ogilvy Paris, the campaign continued Perrier’s long tradition of using distinctive contemporary imagery to promote its sparkling mineral water.

The composition features the close-up face of an elegant blonde woman beside a blue Perrier bottle and a glass filled with bubbles. Within a comic-book speech balloon, she exclaims, “C’est fou ! Un Perrier avec des fines bulles !” The deliberately exaggerated expression and playful slogan give the image an immediate sense of wit and surprise.

Bold black outlines, areas of saturated turquoise, yellow and red, and the tightly cropped composition evoke the visual language of 1960s American comic books. The design also makes a clear reference to the Pop Art vocabulary associated with Roy Lichtenstein, transforming a familiar advertising message into a theatrical comic-strip scene.

Joseph McDermott is a Philadelphia-based American illustrator known for his contemporary reinterpretation of vintage comic-book imagery. With a background in art history, he combines dramatic framing, expressive characters and references to mid-century printing techniques. His recognisable Pop Art style has been used for international editorial and advertising commissions, including this collaboration with Perrier.

An appealing original poster for collectors of Perrier advertising, beverage graphics, contemporary Pop Art and French commercial design. Its strong colours, fashionable character and instantly recognisable bottle make it a particularly lively decorative work for a kitchen, bar, dining room or modern interior.
