This original 1985 French advertising poster was designed by Roger Muhl for Georges Duboeuf, the celebrated Beaujolais wine producer based in Romanèche-Thorins. Its inscription, “Le Beaujolais Nouveau de Georges Duboeuf est arrivé!”, announces the eagerly awaited arrival of the year’s Beaujolais Nouveau.
The composition centres on an elegant glass filled with vivid red wine, accompanied by a small bunch of dark grapes and green vine leaves. Presented as a refined still life, these simple elements evoke the freshness, conviviality and seasonal character traditionally associated with Beaujolais Nouveau.
Muhl employs a delicate palette of turquoise, pale green and soft yellow, dramatically contrasted by the rich crimson of the wine.
