Created for the 1977 edition of the 24 Heures du Mans, held on 11 and 12 June, this original official poster features a dramatic photograph by Farinacci. The graphic layout was conceived by Moreillon and Schweizer for the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

The photograph captures the start of the 1976 race, with the number 20 Porsche 936—eventual winner of that edition—leading a dense field of prototypes. Packed grandstands, international flags and heat rising from the circuit convey the scale and excitement of endurance racing at Le Mans.

Large white typography occupies the lower section without distracting from the photographic action. The emblem of the Daytona–Le Mans Trophy reinforces the international character of the competition and the developing relationship between European and American endurance racing.

The 1977 race became famous for the duel between Porsche and Renault-Alpine. After severe early difficulties, Jacky Ickx joined Jürgen Barth and Hurley Haywood in the number 4 Porsche 936, helping the team complete a remarkable recovery and secure victory.

Combining Farinacci’s motorsport photography with strong period typography, this original poster is a vivid record of 1970s racing culture. It is particularly appealing to collectors of Porsche memorabilia, endurance-racing history and original automotive posters.
