This luminous original Spanish travel poster from circa 1950 was designed by Teodoro Delgado to promote summer holidays on the beaches of Andalucía. The composition is a masterclass in mid-century poster minimalism, featuring a simple yet evocative scene: a vivid blue wooden chair, a straw hat adorned with colourful flowers and pink ribbons, sandals resting casually in the sand, and sunglasses placed atop a folded magazine.

The empty chair and footprints disappearing into the golden sand suggest the presence of a holidaymaker who has just wandered off into the serene Andalusian waters. Delgado captures the idyllic languor of a Spanish summer with minimal elements, conjuring warmth, leisure, and timeless Mediterranean elegance.

Created for the Dirección General del Turismo (General Directorate of Tourism) during Spain’s mid-century tourism boom, this poster aimed to attract both domestic and international travellers to the sunny coasts of southern Spain. Its graphic simplicity and powerful clarity are characteristic of Spanish poster design of the era, highlighting Andalucía’s unique charm without cliché.

Today, this original “Veraneo en las playas de Andalucía” poster by Teodoro Delgado is a rare and desirable collector’s piece for Spanish graphic design enthusiasts, vintage travel aficionados, and decorators seeking authentic mid-century Mediterranean atmosphere. It remains an evocative window into the optimism and elegance of Spain’s early tourism era.
