This advertising card was created to promote the famous Finor chicory brand.

French history is closely linked to chicory consumption. Indeed, it was when the English imposed a continental blockade on Napoleon that France experienced its first coffee shortage.

This shortage made chicory an essential part of every French household.
During the two world wars, too, coffee shortages led to chicory consumption.
