This original 1967 exhibition poster was designed by the celebrated Swiss kinetic artist Jean Tinguely for his groundbreaking show Le Rotozaza at Galerie Alexandre Iolas, located at 196 Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris.

Featuring Tinguely’s own frenetic sketches and handwritten notes, this poster is as much an artwork as the mechanical sculpture it promotes. The chaotic web of arrows, measurements, and mechanical schematics reflects Tinguely’s obsession with movement, spontaneity, and entropy. It reads like a blueprint of creative madness—visual proof of an artist engineering machines that were as unpredictable as they were absurd.

Le Rotozaza was part of Tinguely’s series of self-destructing, motorized sculptures. These works blurred the line between performance, object, and conceptual art, aligning Tinguely with the Nouveau Réalisme movement while foreshadowing contemporary installation and kinetic practices.

Printed in limited quantities and bearing Tinguely’s unmistakable visual language, this poster is a coveted collector’s item. It encapsulates the spirit of 1960s avant-garde Paris: daring, mechanical, rebellious, and wonderfully unhinged.
