West Side Story is an American musical film directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise, released in 1961. Great popular and critical success, it is a classic of the genre and won 10 awards (out of eleven nominations) at the 34th Academy Awards.

It is adapted from the musical of the same name by Arthur Laurents, Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein, directed by Jerome Robbins and premiered on September 26, 1957 on Broadway where it was a great success. A new adaptation was released in 2021, directed by Steven Spielberg.
