Very beautiful poster to promote the French Tennis Open of 1980 (Roland Garros Tournament) now called Roland Garros, which is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. Since 1980, the F.F.T (French Tennis Federation), in partnership with the Lelong Gallery, commissions each year an artist to create a poster to promote the tournament. The F.F.T has recruited remarkable artists for the realization of these posters, including Valerio Adami, who has done a remarkable job in making this first poster.

Valerio Adami is an Italian painter. Trained at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, he has since worked in London and Paris. His art is influenced by Pop Art.
He is the most French of the Italian painters, especially known for his famous flat tints of acid colors and his forms surrounded by a black outline that remind us of the clear line of the comic strip but also the stained glass windows of churches. The main themes of his paintings are literature, travel, and the relationship between poetry, music and painting. From the beginning, he has also maintained close relationships with writers and artists of the international avant-garde in Paris.
