Roger de Valerio, pseudonym of Roger Laviron 🇫🇷 (1886-1951), is a French illustrator, poster artist and painter.
Throughout his career, he worked as an art director in various newspapers and publishing houses for which he made many covers and posters.
He remains however particularly known for his advertising posters, in particular for the account of advertisers such as: Air France, Citroën, Chrysler, Lustucru etc.
This poster was made in 1916 for the Ministry of War; it shows a soldier greeting another soldier whose bust comes out of the turret of a tank of the Renault factory, accompanied by the formula "Join the troops of the Metropolis.
