Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) was a French painter, draftsman and sculptor.
Thanks to the use of simplification, and stylization, Matisse has brought a considerable influence on the art of the twentieth century, considered a pioneer of Fauvism.
From Picasso, who was his friend and considered him his great rival, to #andywarhol who "wanted to be Matisse", all the painters of the twentieth century have been confronted with the glory and genius of Matisse.
The Maeght Gallery, an art gallery located in Paris in the 7ᵉ arrondissement, specializes in modern and contemporary art.
Since its opening in 1945, it has exhibited the greatest artists of the 20th century as well as many contemporary artists.
