Original poster made by Emil Cardinaux 🇨🇠(1877-1936), one of the most important founders of the poster in Switzerland.
In 1908, he was commissioned by the Swiss government to create a poster to promote the Matterhorn and the ski area of Zermatt. This was a turning point in the young illustrator's career. Emil Cardinaux created the first "modern" tourism poster.
A straightforward style with no superfluous details, which emphasizes the aesthetic value of his subtle play of colors, achieved through the exceptional quality of lithographic printing.
This poster made him known internationally and influenced many Swiss artists and poster designers.
