The Battle of Berlin was the last land battle of the Second World War in Europe.
Launched on April 16, 1945 by the Soviets, it ended on May 2, 1945 with the surrender of the last German soldiers in the Berlin garrison.
During this hopeless battle, Adolf Hitler, Führer of a desperate Reich, coordinated the German defense, but the Reich's under-equipped forces could not effectively oppose the Soviet units.
Defeat having become inevitable, he put an end to his life on April 30, a few days before the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany.
