Very nice original poster from 1898 by Maurice Pillard Verneuil.
Standing on dark blue water lilies, a pretty woman with flowing orange hair pours water from a gray jug. The essence of nature, purity and freshness in this ad for a disinfectant is omnipresent.
From the beautiful white flowers in the background, to the green floral patterns on the girl's dress, to the Art Nouveau style so long associated with the decorative representation of the natural world.
Verneuil was a student of Grasset, who is best remembered for his monumental work, L'Etude de la Plante, a book of floral ornamentation that is a key document of French Art Nouveau. His posters are rare, but here he demonstrates his own excellence as a master of Art Nouveau graphics.
