The SS Arandora Star was built in 1927 for Blue Star Line for their London, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires route (one of the luxury five cruise liners); she served as a troop ship during World War Two but was hit by a torpedo and sunk in June 1940 whilst transporting internees and prisoners of war to Canada.
