Very rare poster in the Art Deco style, made in 1938 by William Dobell 🇦🇺 (1899-1970) an Australian painter and sculptor. Known for his portraits, his work is exhibited in many galleries around the world but also at the NGA (National Gallery of Australia).
The Orient Steam Navigation Company, better known as the Orient Line, is a British shipping company whose origins date back to the late eighteenth century. As it grew, it served Australia, South America and the Pacific.
The rarity of this poster is explained by the fact that it was very rare at that time (1938) to find posters on the theme of surfing.
