This is an original 1980 French movie poster for “Fog” (The Fog), the cult horror film directed by John Carpenter and starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrienne Barbeau, and Janet Leigh. Designed by renowned poster artist Michel Landi, it was created for the film’s French release under the chilling tagline “Derrière la brume… l’horreur !” (Behind the mist… horror!).
Michel Landi (1932–2017) was one of France’s leading cinema poster artists from the 1960s to the 1990s, known for his dramatic and unforgettable imagery. Here, he depicts an eerie, wide-eyed female face emerging from the grey mist, her terrified expression hinting at the supernatural menace hidden within the fog. The film’s blood-dripping red title typography intensifies its unsettling effect.
“The Fog,” released in 1980, is John Carpenter’s atmospheric ghost story about a coastal town haunted by vengeful spirits hidden within a creeping fog. It became an instant genre classic and further cemented Carpenter’s reputation after his success with Halloween (1978).
This poster also bears the Prix de la Critique award mention from the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival 1980, adding further collectibility for horror and cinema history enthusiasts.
